College systems: quickstart guide for students: Home

IT systems at NPTC Group of Colleges

As a student at NPTC Group of Colleges you will be using several different systems to access course materials and communicate with your lecturers and other college staff.

We provide you with all of the software and digital tools that you will need to complete your course.   This guide provides a quick introduction to the main systems that you will use.  If your course requires that you have access to specialist software or systems, your lecturers will provide more information.

We also have a Quick start video and printed guide for you.

Your username and password

When you've enrolled on a course at NPTC Group of Colleges you will be issued with a unique student ID number and password.  You will use these to log on to all college systems and resources.  It is important that you remember them.

Important: your college account will be created 24 hours after you have completed the online enrolment process.  If you attempt to login before this, your details will not be recognised.

Different systems will require you to enter your username in one of two ways, either:

1. your student ID number on its own, e.g. 123456

or

2. your college e-mail address.

Your email address is your student number, followed by @nptcgroup.ac.uk, e.g. 123456@nptcgroup.ac.uk

The first time that you login, your password will consist of your student number and your home postcode (using capital letters), e.g. 123456SA107RF

If the system gives you a login error, check that you are using the correct login format.

Stay secure

Some college systems contain your personal and confidential information.  To keep your personal stuff personal, never reveal or share your password with anyone else, even a friend.  College staff will never ask for your password; if you are ever asked to reveal it, don't!  If staff are authorised to access your information they will be able to do so using their own username and password so should never need to ask for yours.

Changing your account password

You should change your password regularly.  On campus you can do this by logging on to any college owned device. Or, do it online in O365.

Sign into your college Microsoft account using your college email address, e.g. 123456@nptcgroup.ac.uk and password.

Go to settings and select 'Change your password'.

On the Change your password page, enter your current password and then enter your new password and Save.

Your email address is your student number, followed by @nptcgroup.ac.uk, e.g. 123456@nptcgroup.ac.uk

What to do if you forget your password

If you don't remember your password or you have tried your password too many times and locked your account, then you can reset it.

From the Enter password screen, select 'Forgot my password' and follow the instructions.

Can't get it to work?  If you are having difficulty logging in and need help resetting your password you can e-mailitservices@nptcgroup.ac.uk and ask them to re-set the password for you.

IT Services staff are available 9.00am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
