Eduroam

The Wi-Fi network at NPTC Group is called eduroam, and is available at all our colleges. Once registered, you will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi whenever you visit one of our sites. 

Follow the instructions below for setting up your device to connect to eduroam. You will need your college email address and password.

Connecting your device to Eduroam

Android and Google Devices

To connect to eduroam on an android device you will need your college username and password:

  • your username is your student number, followed by @nptcgroup.ac.uk, e.g. 123456@nptcgroup.ac.uk
  • your password is your college password.
  1. Go to Settings > Wifi > Select the eduroam network
  1. You will be prompted to sign in using the following details:
  • EAP Method: PEAP
  • Phase-2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • Server CA Certificate: Don't validate
  • Identity: username@nptcgroup.ac.uk
  • Password: Your college password
  • Domain: nptcgroup.ac.uk

You will be connected to the college Wifi.

For some Android or Google phones, you may need to select:

  • Online certificate status: Use system certificates
  • Domain: ad.nptcgroup.ac.uk
  • Anonymous identity: enter your username, e.g. 123456@nptcgroup.ac.uk

Troubleshooting:

1. Problems connecting? Try forgetting the existing eduroam network profile and reconnect: To do this:

  • go to Settings > Wi-Fi
  • select and hold eduroam and Forget Network

2. Have you entered your username in the correct format?

3. Is your password correct? If you need to reset your password, call into the library with your ID card.

Connecting to an apple device

 

To connect to eduroam on an apple device you will need your college username and password:

  • your username is your student number, followed by @nptcgroup.ac.uk, e.g. 123456@nptcgroup.ac.uk
  • your password is your college password.
  1. Go to Settings > Wifi > Select the eduroam network
  2. You will be prompted to Join using the following details:
  • Username: username@nptcgroup.ac.uk
  • Password: your college password
  1. Click Trust to accept the eduroam certificate
  2. You are now connected to the eduroam network.

 

Troubleshooting:

1. Problems connecting? Try forgetting the existing eduroam network profile and reconnect: To do this:

  • go to Settings > Wi-Fi
  • select and hold eduroam and Forget Network

2. Have you entered your username in the correct format?

3. Is your password correct? If you need to reset your password, call into the library with your ID card.

If you have any problems connecting to the Wifi, please contact IT Services for help.

Connecting to a WIndows laptop

 

To connect to eduroam on a windows device you will need your college username and password:

  • your username is your student number, followed by @nptcgroup.ac.uk, e.g. 123456@nptcgroup.ac.uk
  • your password is your college password.
  1. Click on the Wifi icon and select eduroam from the network list.
  2. Tick Connect automatically, and then connect
  3. Enter your username and password and connect
  4. You are now connected to the eduroam network.

 

Troubleshooting:

1. Problems connecting? Try forgetting the existing eduroam network profile and reconnect. To do this:

  • Go to your device Settings > Network & Internet > Wifi
  • Select Manage known networks
  • Select eduroam and Forget
  • Follow steps 1 - 4 above to connect to the Wifi.

2. Have you entered your username in the correct format?

3. Is your password correct? If you need to reset your password, call into the library with your ID card.

To connect to eduroam on a chromebook you will need your college username and password:

  • your username is your student number, followed by @nptcgroup.ac.uk, e.g. 123456@nptcgroup.ac.uk
  • your password is your college password.
  1. Click on the Wifi icon and select eduroam from the network list.
  2. Use the following details in the Join Wifi Network box:
  • EAP Method: PEAP
  • EAP Phase-2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • Server CA Certificate: Don't validate
  • Identity: username@nptcgroup.ac.uk
  • Password: Your college password

You will be connected to the college Wifi.
