Introduction

  • approx. 10% 
  • First thing that an examiner/lecturer/reader reads so it needs to be CLEAR, CONCISE and ENGAGING  

Main body

  • approx. 80%
  • Structured paragraphs – TEA/PEE
  • Use evidence which supports your points and REFERENCE
  • Each paragraph should support your writing

Conclusion

  • approx. 10%
  • Restate the topic and summarise your key points with EVALUATION

How to write an introduction

Your introduction should make the reader want to read on with a clear understanding of what the essay will cover. This must relate to the learning outcomes or essay question to ensure your essay is relevant.

How to write a conclusion

Your conclusion should briefly explain your findings or main ideas. Think about the main message or central idea that you want the reader of your assignment to take away.
