Quick guide to Microsoft Teams: Home

What is Teams?

Teams is your online classroom. It's a communication tool used by all staff and students. Teams is used to provide information and materials for your course, setting and uploading assignments, delivering online lessons, and providing feedback. It's used for discussion and group activities and is the main way that you will join in with your lessons when not on campus.

Teams is part of Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 is a suite of programs and apps that you can download to your PC or mobile device. It gives you all the tools that you need to complete your course including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Sway, 1TB of free cloud storage in OneDrive, and access to your college e-mail via Outlook. Use Microsoft 365 to access your work from anywhere and on any device.

Logging in to Teams

To access Teams and all the tools in your Microsoft 365 account, follow the links on Moodle or visit Office.com and log in with your college e-mail address and NPTC password. These were sent to you when you first enrolled.

College e-mail address: student number (aka 'person code') followed by @nptcgroup.ac.uk e.g. 123456@nptcgroup.ac.uk

New students: your initial password will be your student number + your postcode, e.g. 123456SA107RF (you can change this at any time by going to the Settings in your Microsoft 365 account or logging into a PC when you are on campus).

Returning students: continue to use your password from last year.

If you have forgotten your password you can reset it from the Microsoft 365 login box.

If you are still having difficulty logging in and need help with your password, then contact IT Services

itservices@nptcgroup.ac.uk

Your College Teams

You will be a member of a separate team for each class or course. Each team is a separate community and will have different members.  If you are enrolled on more than one course, your Teams page will have links to all of them.

All students are also members of the NPTC Student Noticeboard Team. Here you will be able to connect with support services, get involved with activities and find essential information about what's going on in college.
