You're probably feeling nervous and excited about your first day at college. Don't worry, so is everyone else! There will be plenty of friendly staff and student ambassadors on hand to help you find your way around.

The first few days will be spent welcoming you to college. You'll get to meet your lecturers and fellow students, take a tour of the campus, and find out the important things, like where to get a coffee and how to connect to the Wi-Fi.
If you have any questions while you're at college, talk to your tutor, or ask at Reception, the Student Zone or the Library.
The college website has information about travelling to college, including the bus routes to the different campuses and how to purchase your bus ticket.

If you receive financial support such as EMA, WGLF or the hardship fund, you will receive free transport to college. For more information, contact studentsupport@nptcgroup.ac.uk
Limited car parking is available at all campuses free of charge, except for Y Gaer in Brecon.
Please note: All drivers must comply with the driving and parking restrictions in operation in/around the campuses. NPTC Group of Colleges does not accept responsibility for vehicles or their contents. All vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk.
The Wi-Fi network at NPTC Group is called eduroam, and is available at all our colleges. Once registered, you will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi whenever you visit one of our sites.
Follow the instructions in the guide below for setting up your device to connect to eduroam. You will need your college email address and password.

A wide variety of meals, snacks, and drinks are available in College from Monday to Friday. These are available in the Refectory on each site. Vegetarian options are available. Make sure you ask refectory staff if you have any allergies.
Food can be purchased using cash or card. You can also bring your own lunch or purchase food off-site.
Some students will be eligible to receive free meals, but this will not be in place by the first week, so make sure you bring lunch or can buy lunch to begin with. You will need to show your student card to receive your free dinners.
The college has a no smoking policy for all NPTC buildings and grounds. This includes electronic and vapour cigarettes.
There is generally no uniform or dress code for attending college, however you are expected to dress in a way that does not offend others.
You do need to wear appropriate clothing for your course. This may be a health and safety requirement for some courses, and your tutor will give you more information about what is expected.
Some courses such as Hair and Beauty may also require the purchase of a uniform, and your tutors will give you information about this.
